Vacancies & Salary Scale
The vacancies are distributed across three primary Group ‘C’ cadres with standard central government pay scales under the 7th Pay Commission (CPC):
- Tax Assistant: 07 Posts (Pay Level-4: ₹25,500 – ₹81,100/- per month)
- Multi-Tasking Staff (MTS): 04 Posts (Pay Level-1: ₹18,000 – ₹56,900/- per month)
- Stenographer Grade-II: 01 Post (Pay Level-4: ₹25,500 – ₹81,100/- per month)
- Note: Standard central government allowances, including Dearness Allowance (DA), House Rent Allowance (HRA), and medical benefits, are applicable as per rules.
Eligibility Criteria
- Educational & Skill Qualifications:
- Tax Assistant: Must possess a Graduation Degree (Bachelor’s Degree) from a recognized university or equivalent. Additionally, candidates must have a data entry speed of at least 8,000 key depressions per hour (KDPH).
- Stenographer Grade-II: Must have passed Class 12 (Intermediate) or its equivalent from a recognized board. Skill test requirements include a dictation speed of 80 words per minute (wpm) for 10 minutes, with transcription timelines matching standard guidelines.
- Multi-Tasking Staff (MTS): Must have passed Class 10 (Matriculation) or its equivalent from a recognized school board.
- Sports Eligibility Norms:
- Open to meritorious athletes (any gender) who have represented the Country or State in International or National competitions, or won medals in Junior National Championships, Inter-University tournaments, Khelo India Games, or National School Games.
- Candidates must submit their performance validation documents strictly in the official DoPT-prescribed formats (Forms 1 to 5). Only achievements recorded up to 31 March 2026 will be counted.
- Age Limit (As of August 1, 2026):
- Tax Assistant & Stenographer: 18 to 27 Years
- Multi-Tasking Staff (MTS): 18 to 25 Years
- Upper age relaxation up to 5 years for General/OBC and up to 10 years for SC/ST candidates is applicable exclusively for meritorious sportspersons.

Selection Process
- Shortlisting based on Sports Merit: Initial screening is based entirely on the priority order of tournaments and medals specified by DoPT guidelines (International representation holds top priority, followed by National events, and so forth).
- Skill / Practical Proficiency Test: Shortlisted candidates for the Tax Assistant and Stenographer positions will undergo mandatory typing/stenography evaluation rounds.
- Document Verification & Medical Clearance: Verification of original sports certificates, academic records, and a formal anti-doping declaration verifying a clear record under NADA/WADA regulations.
How to Apply
- Visit the official Income Tax Department administrative web portal to download the notification document and extract the prescribed application form pattern (Annexure-II).
- Print the form template on plain A4 paper and fill out all descriptive fields clearly by hand.
- Attach self-attested copies of your mandatory credentials:
- Matriculation / Age proof documentation.
- Educational marksheets and passing certificates (10th/12th/Graduation as applicable).
- Sports eligibility certificates are explicitly drafted in Form 1, 2, 3, 4, or 5, signed by the designated sports federation authority.
- Caste / Category certificate (if claiming age concessions).
- Affix a recent passport-size colored photograph to the form space and sign across the designated declaration bounds.
- Place the completed folder inside a secure cover envelope, writing the words “APPLICATION FOR THE POST OF [POST NAME] UNDER SPORTS QUOTA RECRUITMENT” clearly on the outside.
- Dispatch the application packet via Registered Post or Speed Post only to the designated address of the administrative recruitment cell mentioned in the official document framework before the regional closing timeline
