Educational Qualification Requirements

Candidates must satisfy the academic prerequisites based on the post applied for:

For Level-2 (Group ‘C’):
- Passed 12th (+2 Stage) or equivalent examination with a minimum of 50% aggregate marks OR
- Passed 10th Standard plus ITI / National Apprenticeship Certificate (NAC) approved by NCVT.
For Level-1 (Erstwhile Group ‘D’):
- Passed 10th Standard (Matriculation) OR ITI OR National Apprenticeship Certificate (NAC) granted by NCVT.

Mandatory Scouts & Guides Qualifications

In addition to the academic requirements, candidates must fulfil the following mandatory scouting criteria:

Must be a President Scout / Guide / Rover / Ranger OR hold a Himalayan Wood Badge (HWB).
Must be an active member of a recognized Scout & Guide Organization for the last 5 years (supported by a Certificate of Activeness).
Must have attended at least two events at the National / All India Railways level AND two events at the State level.

Age Limit Criteria

Applicants must satisfy the age boundaries calculated as of January 01, 2027:

For Level-2 (Group ‘C’): 18 to 30 Years
For Level-1 (Group ‘D’): 18 to 33 Years
- Note: Upper age relaxations apply per government rules (3 years for OBC-NCL, 5 years for SC/ST, and up to 10+ years for PwBD/Ex-Servicemen).

Selection Process

The selection procedure involves the following evaluation rounds:

Stage-I Written Test (60 Marks): 60-minute exam comprising 40 objective-type questions (40 marks) and 1 essay-type question (20 marks) on Scouts & Guides activities and General Knowledge.
Stage-II Assessment of Certificates (40 Marks): Evaluation based on participation certificates in scouting events.
Medical Examination: Physical fitness evaluation conducted by Railway Medical Authorities.
